Kaiserslautern reports Nazi salutes - 27/02/2012
Source : http://msn.foxsports.com (thanks to the sender)
Kaiserslautern has reported a group of fans to police after they allegedly insulted Israel striker Itay Shechter with Hitler salutes.
The struggling Bundesliga club says the incident occurred during practice Sunday, one day after a 4-0 loss at Mainz dropped Kaiserslautern to next to last.
The group of ''fewer than 10'' people are among hooligans that have been banned from games for years.
The club has asked police to investigate and possibly file charges and has urged fans to identify the perpetrators.
The club said it ''distances itself expressly from any form of racism, discrimination or anti-Semitism,'' Kaiserslautern said in a statement.

England: Football fans chants go ‘too far’ - 25/02/2012
Source : local press (thanks to the sender)
FOOTBALL fans in Bury St Edmunds were accused of ‘crossing the line’ in chants directed at a visiting player this week.
Lowestoft Town goalkeeper Andy Reynolds was subjected to cruel chants during Tuesday’s Ryman League Cup semi-final match against Bury Town.
The 24-year-old, from Bury, also reported coins and pens being thrown on to the Ram Meadow pitch.
He said: “It was probably one of the most hostile games I have played in. You ask your own fans to be committed and passionate but there’s a line that clearly some people crossed.”
He added: “I know on the whole it’s probably meant as banter and they’re probably not thinking about what they’re saying, but it’s a game of football and these sorts of things shouldn‘t happen.”
A fan, who was at the game, said “There’s generally good banter from the stands, but I thought the abuse of the Lowestoft goalkeeper was well over the top.
“Those singing that should really question why they even went to the game – was it to cheer Bury into a final or shout and swear at the opposition?”
Mr Reynolds, whose primary job is as a football coach, also voiced concern for the negative impact the game could have had on young people watching.
Phil Knight, Suffolk FA chief executive, said: “Suffolk FA deplores any acts of violent behaviour be it physical or verbal. Allegations have been brought to our attention but until we have received full reports it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
Russell Ward, Bury Town chairman, said he had apologised to Mr Reynolds for the chants but was unaware of anything other than a chip being thrown on to the pitch. There was some inappropriate chanting and we’re dealing with it,” he said.

South Korea to pursue Oman over football hooligans - 26/02/2012
Source : Yonhap
South Korea will seek punishment against Oman for their failure to control supporters in last week’s Olympic soccer qualifier between the two teams in Muscat last week.
South Korea’s under-23s won 3-0 to qualify for this year’s London Olympics but the game was marred by crowd trouble as fans hurled water bottles and other objects onto the pitch.
Tempers boiled over after South Korea’s third goal midway through the second half, midfielder Han Kook-young collapsing to the ground after a firecracker nearly hit him in the face.
“This is a clear-cut case and we expect some sort of penalty,” the Korea Football Association (KFA) told Yonhap news agency.

England: Manchester City fans banned from football grounds for five years after derby day fracas in Hulme - 28/02/2012
Source : http://menmedia.co.uk
A group of Manchester City fans escaped prison but were slapped with match banning orders after a ‘deplorable’ pub brawl with United supporters. Paul Valente, Stephen Walsh and Thomas Waterhouse will not be able to see Roberto Mancini’s men – or any other match in the country – for five years for their part in a post-derby fracas which saw £1,500 of damage caused to Hulme’s Czech Bar. The trio were inside the Booth Street pub when a large gang of Reds fans approached following last February’s Old Trafford clash which United won, Manchester crown court heard. They began to goad and taunt their rivals through the windows as the bar’s manager, fearing trouble, desperately tried to bring the shutters down, Rachel Widdicombe, prosecuting, said: “Missiles were then launched from the United fans which smashed some of the windows. Those inside responded by hurling objects through the broken glass with terrified members of staff ducking for cover. The Reds fans ran off when police arrived. But Valente, 30, of Middleton, Walsh, 31, of Clive Road, Failsworth, and Waterhouse, 23, of Calcutta Road, Edgeley, Stockport were arrested and charged with affray. Each pleaded guilty on the day a trial was due to begin after hearing the maximum sentence they were likely to receive would be nine months in prison. Waterhouse, a call centre worker who launched a snooker cue and a pane of glass at the Reds, had no previous record and acted out of character, said his solicitor, Paul Bryning. He added that he had offered to pay compensation to the bar. Walsh, a pipe fitter who was jailed in 2003 for taking part in an race attack that sparked the Oldham riots, had taken steps to bring his drinking under control his solicitor, Laura Foster, said. Valente, also a pipe fitter, was ‘clouded by alcohol’ according to his solicitor, Adrian Palmer. Judge Anthony Gee QC handed down eight-month prison sentences suspended for 12 months. He ordered the defendants to pay a total of £1,500 compensation to the landlady of the bar and £500 costs each. He said: “This must have been an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the staff.”

Wrexham fans accuse Greater Manchester Police of 'heavy-handed' treatment at Stockport County
Wrexham football fans have accused Greater Manchester Police of being ‘heavy-handed’ during their recent trip to Stockport County.
Supporters claimed they were harassed by tactical aid officers at Saturday’s Edgeley Park clash but police chiefs in the North West have hit back and claim their actions prevented an outbreak of ‘large-scale disorder’.
The Blue Square Premier League match, which was attended by 4,518 fans, was designated Category C by police officials – the highest available for a non-league match.
Chief Insp Leon Jacobs, of GMP, said: "Officers faced a very challenging day, with large numbers of identified risk supporters from both Stockport County and Wrexham present.
"We implemented a robust operation that enabled us to keep both Wrexham and Stockport fans safe while they made their way to and from the football ground.
"Our focus was very much on those individuals we believed were intent on causing public disorder."
