Source :  http://en.as.com/

Athletic and APOEL fans clash in central Bilbao

Fighting broke out last night in the historic centre of Bilbao as ultras from the Basque side fought with APOEL Nicosia supporters in town for the Europa League round of 16 first leg.

The altercation occurred beside the Arriaga Theatre at 22:00 CET and as a result a Cypriot supporter was taken to Basurto hospital with injuries to his face following the impact of a bottle.

The fight was quickly broken up by swift police intervention. 1,600 APOEL fans are expected to attend the Europa League game at San Mamés (kick-off 21:05 CET) and the presence of 200 APOEL ultras has deemed the game declared as "high-risk" by local Bilbao law enforcement agencies.

BBC Film About Russian Hooligans Aimed to 'Scare UK Fans Away From World Cup' - 17/02/2017

Source :  https://sputniknews.com/

The recent BBC "Russia's Hooligan Army" documentary about Russian football fans is a propaganda piece aimed at discouraging Britons from traveling to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Vladimir Markin, the head of the Russian Football Union committee for security and working with fans, said Friday.

The film, which aired late on Thursday, is based on the events of the UEFA Euro 2016 championship in France, when at least 30 people were injured in clashes between Russia and England fans after a football match in Marseille.

"This is a propaganda piece aimed at discrediting Russia, Russian football, and the World Cup in particular, to prevent as many British fans as possible from traveling to the World Cup. There is no other purpose. When there are no facts, any means will do. They are not averse to anything. The BBC has repeatedly shown its so-called objectivity toward Russia," Markin told R-Sport.

Earlier in the day, the Russian embassy in London responded to the film by stressing that Russia was paying full heed to events at the previous major football tournaments when ensuring security at the 2018 World Cup. It added that the BBC appeared to be doing its best to discredit Russia ahead of the cup.
Following the incident in Marseille, UEFA responded by conditionally disqualifying the Russian team, while a number of Russian fans were placed in a deportation center.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held across venues in over 10 Russian cities in June and July 2018. The event will be the first ever World Cup to take place in Eastern Europe.

Violence in stands mars Liga MX match between Veracruz and Tigres

A Liga MX soccer match between Veracruz and Tigres UANL was marred by violence when fans from both sides confronted each other in the stands of Veracruz's Luis 'Pirata' Fuente stadium.

Tigres players on the pitch motioned to their fans to leave the stadium following full time.

A visibly irate club manager Ricardo 'Tuca' Ferretti had to be held by back star player Andre-Pierre Gignac after getting into a shoving and shouting match with a police officer on the pitch.

Fans pelted the field with objects and cups, some which landed and exploded on top of the covered tunnel that leads to the stadium locker rooms. Tigres beat Veracruz 3-0.

Millwall FC - Leicester City - FA Cup - 18/02/2017

Source : http://www.standard.co.uk/

Millwall's celebrations for Leicester FA Cup win turn sour as police needed to quell pitch invasion

Millwall’s celebrations after their stunning FA Cup win over Leicester turned sour as police were forced to separate both sets of supporters after a pitch invasion.

Shaun Cummings’ 90th minute strike had secured a spot in the sixth round for the League One side after a third victory over Premier League opponents.

Jubilant Millwall fans ran onto the pitch after the final whistle as Leicester players were escorted down the tunnel but the celebratory mood darkened as mounted police were forced to separate the home support from the away end.

Missiles were thrown by both sets of fans and some Millwall supporters were pictured swinging on the crossbar.

A public address announcement called for supporters to clear the pitch, adding: “It’s needed for Tuesday night”, when Millwall host Chesterfield.

The pitch was cleared in around 15 minutes as Leicester supporters filed out of the stadium as they became the third side, after Bournemouth and Watford, to fall to Neil Harris’ Millwall.

Grimsby Town - Mansfield Town - 18/02/2017

Source : http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/

Trouble flares as Grimsby Town and Mansfield Town fans clash in 'ugly' scenes

A LARGE-SCALE disturbance broke out in the streets around the Grimsby Town football ground today – with reports of fighting between rival fans.

The reports of trouble and riot vans being called in came after Grimsby Town beat Mansfield Town 3-0.

A witness claimed that the trouble started after the Mariners went three goals up.

It was centred around the Tiverton Street and Lovett Street areas, claimed the witness.

The police were later pushing the fans towards Cleethorpes, he added.

"It looks like there have been arrests and there were people in handcuffs," claimed the witness.

"Traffic was snarled up and at a standstill. It was just crazy."

Humberside Police said in a tweet that there was an ongoing "disturbance between Grimsby and Mansfield fans".

It added that police were on the scene and that people were advised to avoid the Blundell Park area.

Another witness said: "There was some trouble outside the ground. There was loads of trouble there."

A third witness, who was inside the ground, claimed that Mansfield fans were "goading" the Grimsby fans during the game and that it became worse after the third Mariners goal.

"A big group of Mansfield fans got towards the fence separating them from Town fans in the Lower Findus.

"It got a bit ugly."

Huddersfield Town - Manchester City - FA Cup - 18/02/2017

Source : http://www.examiner.co.uk/

Huddersfield Town investigating after bottle-throwing incident during FA Cup tie

Huddersfield Town have confirmed an investigation has begun into an alleged bottle-throwing incident during the club’s FA Cup tie with Manchester City on Saturday.

The John Smith Stadium’s safety team is investigating the incident which reportedly happened in the 63rd minute in front of the Revell Ward Stand when a plastic soft-drink bottle was flung from the crowd.

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Bacary Sagna were warming up on the touchline when the bottle was thrown in their direction.

The bottle just missed Sterling, according to reports, but Sagna reacted and looked towards the crowd.

It is understood that police and the club are working together to identify the culprit. The investigation is expected to involve viewing CCTV footage.

The Football Association is aware of the incident and is in touch with the club regarding the investigation.

The FA views bottle throwing as a criminal offence as well as a potentially dangerous thing to do.

A spokesman for Huddersfield Town said: “The John Smith’s Stadium safety team are investigating the incident.”

West Yorkshire Police has been approached to comment but has yet to respond.

Earlier this month a Town fan was banned indefinitely after unfurling a Turkish flag during the clash with Leeds United.

Six people suffered minor injuries as a result of the trouble, and in total, 30 Bristol Rovers supporters were ejected from the stadium.

Chairman Steve Hamer has called on Port Vale and Staffordshire Police to have reports on the incident on his desk before Thursday morning to help Rovers discover what sparked the disturbance and who was to blame.

Safety officer David Parker said: "We contacted Port Vale on Sunday evening in an attempt to ascertain their views on what occurred during and after the game.

"We still await their version of events. If any of our supporters are charged and found guilty of committing any offences we will look at banning them from the club.

"We condemn any violent behaviour or racially-aggravated offences as there is no place for either of those in football. We need some clarity from Port Vale Football Club and Staffordshire Police to help us to determine our next course of action."

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a series of disturbances at the game on Saturday afternoon.

"During the game some 30 Bristol Rovers supporters were ejected from the ground for a variety of offences including making racially motivated insults towards stewards.

"At the end of the match, following further ejections, a group of nearly 50 Bristol Rovers fans congregated on one of the car parks and a disturbance broke out between themselves and the match day stewards."

"Officials from the two clubs and officers from Staffordshire Police will be studying CCTV images from the game and the various incidents that occurred, as investigations continue."
