Police escort causes Swansea City fans to miss start of Bristol City game amid clashes

Swansea City fans have hit out at police after an escort caused them to miss the start of their away game with Bristol City.

The game was 18 minutes old when a large group of Swansea supporters filed into the stadium, with Bristol Live's reporter Gregor MacGregor reporting clashes between the two sets of supporters.

He said: "It's kicking off in the corner of the Atyeo Stand and the Dolman. A large group of Swans fans arrived at about 18 minutes and goaded the home fans.

"In response a load of City fans moved down to the corner of the Dolman Stand to get close to the Swansea supporters. Several fans made their way over and started throwing punches.

"Looks to have calmed down now as the police have moved between the two corner sections. Andreas Weimann just had a goal disallowed which didn't help matters as it stoked the atmosphere."

The visiting supporters criticised the police on social media after an escort saw them miss the beginning of the game.

11 Getafe fans arrested before match against Levante

Eleven people were arrested in Valencia on Saturday after clashes broke out between supporters of Levante and Getafe before the teams’ match in La Liga, police have confirmed.

“Eleven Getafe fans armed with sticks were arrested in the area of Levante’s stadium by police,” the National Police wrote on Twitter.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Getafe supporters had arrived in a van earlier on Saturday and attended a bar near the City of Valencia Stadium, where the scuffles took place.

Dutch Ice Hockey : Hijs Hokij Den Haag - AHOUD Devils - 03/02/2019

Source : https://www.omroepwest.nl/

The police in The Hague sent two buses carrying ice hockey supporters back to Nijmegen on Sunday due to concerns for public order and safety. Two supporters were arrested, one for incitement and the other for assaulting a police officer, a police spokesperson said to NU.nl.

The AHOUD Devils supporters from Nijmegen were on their way to the cup finals against Hijs Hokij in De Uithof in The Hague. The police pulled the buses over at a gas station on the A4 at the Den Haag-Zuid exit, after the police "received information" that the supporters were under the influence of alcohol. The police spokesperson could not tell NU.nl where the information came from.

The police searched the buses and their passengers. They found fireworks and "weighted gloves". Mayor Pauline Krikke then decided to issue an emergency order because she "seriously feared disruption of public order", her spokesperson said to the newspaper. The ice hockey fans were sent back to Nijmegen.

There was also a large police presence at De Uithof during the match on Sunday. According to the police spokesperson, this was customary "because many people came to the finals". A number of people were arrested during several disturbances after the game.

AEK - PAOK - 03/02/2019

Source : https://newsbeezer.com/

Crackers cracked initially, with police reacting with tear gas, which stifled the atmosphere

The intensity after the expiration of AEK-PAOK, as the fans at the headquarters where George Savvides was sitting, threw bottles

At the end of the derby between the two "biceps" (1-1), the nerves found themselves in the official stadium, and AEK fans threw items at the place where Savvas and the men were sitting to respond to his personal safety.

Automatically, the crowd gathered, the tension grew and the police intervened by using repressive measures to restore order. In fact, the people of PAOK were closed for a while at the booth with lights off.

England : Millwall close notorious section of The Den where yobs sang racist taunts after shocking video of fans’ sickening abuse - 06/02/2019

Source : https://www.thesun.co.uk/

MILLWALL have closed the section of their ground where a group of their fans were filmed singing a racist song.

The Championship club was dragged through the gutter last month when footage emerged of their supporters chanting "I'd rather be a p*** than a Scouse" during the FA Cup win over Everton.

Police and the FA are still investigating the sickening video in an attempt to identify the culprits and ban them from football.

But Millwall have already taken measures themselves, closing off three blocks of the Dockers Stand in an attempt to drive the rogue element out of the club.

They have grown fed up that their work to rid the Lions of their poor reputation is being undermined by a minority of idiots, and decided to seal off the 350 seats in an attempt to stop a repeat.

That part of the ground is where Millwall fans have traditionally congregated to get as close as possible to away supporters.

The club's chief executive Steve Kavanagh told talkSPORT: “We have got together to put a raft of measures in place to make sure we try to rid this club of any of these tags, and anyone who wants to commit racism or any form of hate – they’re just not welcome at Millwall.

“We have shut the top section of block 17, 18 and 19, we’ve put extra stewarding in that area which will stay until the end of the season at least and police spotters will be up there to make sure the area is controlled.

“We are not being the fun police.

“We are making sure people don’t go over the line and that it’s an environment where people can enjoy the game, celebrate football and do it properly.

“It’s important to us to try and rid this image.

“Myself and my staff, we’ve all been affected by this. It felt awful and it was a terrible situation.

“We’ve been hurt by it and that’s made us extra empowered to go and change what’s happening and try and improve this for everyone.

“We don’t want this, were hurt by it and it’s not what Millwall want as a football club.”

The win over Everton was marred by the racist chanting and trouble between rival sets of fans before the game.

Police have today announced they have arrested someone in connection with their investigations into an incident which saw one supporter's face slashed with a knife.

No arrests have yet been made as part of their investigations into the chanting.

West Ham United - Liverpool FC - 04/02/2019

Source : https://www.dailystar.co.uk/

Mo Salah called ‘Muslim cunt’ by fans at West Ham game in shock footage

A video obtained by the Sun appears to show a fan shouting "Salah you fucking Muslim” as he took a corner during the Premier League clash on Monday.

The supporter was heard shouting, in full: ""Salah you fucking Muslim, fucking Muslim cunt. Fuck off."

The sick abuse aimed at the Liverpool hero about his religion was filmed on a mobile phone in the West Ham section of the London Stadium.

But it is unclear who was making the calls at the 26-year-old Egyptian star.

The police and the FA are now investigating the vile incident, the latest example of abuse to marr the football league this season.

West Ham United have also launched a probe and vowed to come down hard on anyone with abusive behaviour.

A club spokesman told The Sun: “At West Ham United, we have a zero tolerance policy to any form of violent or abusive behaviour.

"We are an inclusive football club. Regardless of age, race, religion or belief, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment or disability, everyone is warmly welcomed at London Stadium.

"Anyone identified committing an offence will have their details passed to the police and will face a lifetime ban from London Stadium.

"There is no place for this kind of behaviour at our stadium.”

This incident is the latest in a line of shock racist abuse to rock the Premier League.

A Tottenham fan was recently banned for life after throwing a banana skin at Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during a match at the Emirates.

Man City's Raheem Sterling was then subjected to racist abuse from fans in the Chelsea end during a match at Stamford Bridge.

And last month the FA and police launched an investigation after a video showed Millwall fans singing a racist song to Everton supporters during their FA Cup clash.

Millwall vs Everton: Arrest made over trouble that saw fan slashed across his face - 06/02/2019

Source : https://talksport.com/

London's Met police said a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH), and violent disorder

Police have confirmed an arrest has been made in relation to the mass brawl between Millwall and Everton supporters in January.

Trouble between fans started in the Hawkstone Road area of Southwark, near Millwall’s stadium ahead of the FA Cup match and left one man requiring stitches after being slashed across the face.

London’s Metropolitan Police said: “A 27-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 5 February on suspicion of wounding with intent, attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH), and violent disorder.
He has been bailed to return to a central London police station on Thursday, 28 February.
The arrest is in relation to a life-changing injury one male suffered to his face during the disorder.”

Detective Sergeant Matt Simpson, from the Met’s Public Order Investigation Team, said the scenes were ‘absolutely shocking’.

“We are carrying out a large-scale investigation into the disorder, which left at least one person with a serious injury.

“We have hours of CCTV and hundreds of images which we are closely reviewing, and we have a team of experts working to identify those involved.
“In the very near future we will be issuing images of those we want to trace, and we will be asking for the media’s support in doing so. We are dedicated to identifying those involved, and bringing them to justice for the chaos and disruption they caused.

Leeds United and Boro fans clash in town centre after last-gasp draw at Riverside

More than 4,000 Leeds fans descended on Teesside ahead of the crucial promotion clash with Boro.

Police warned they will get tough with any fans who cause trouble.

Last season, five Whites fans were arrested in connection with public order offences and throwing missiles after the two sides met in March.

Flares were set off, while the police helicopter hovered overhead for the duration of the match and followed crowds into Middlesbrough town centre afterwards.

Earlier this week Cleveland Police warned fans "intent on engaging in trouble" that they will be prosecuted and put before the courts.

Bloodied fans and flying bottles: 12 arrested as Boro and Leeds fans involved in violent clashes

Ugly scenes erupted between rival fans after Boro took on Leeds when a last-gasp equaliser brought passions to boiling point.

Skirmishes broke out in the town centre and on some of the routes around the ground as supporters clashed following the final whistle.

Police on horseback, carrying batons and accompanied by dogs were forced to chase pockets of fans as violent scenes unfolded.

Police have now confirmed that 12 people were arrested over the disorder.

Match commander Chief Superintendent John Lyons issued a statement following the violence.

He said: "There are always a minority of people who attend matches intent on causing disorder and we have seen some of those tensions today, prompted by a late equaliser, which resulted in 12 males arrested.

"It was disappointing to see some of the behaviour being displayed by a minority of the younger people who attended, which was unacceptable and we will look to progress criminal proceedings where possible.

"I would like to thank those officers on the ground, colleagues from British Transport Police. Northumbria Police, Durham Police, Middlesbrough FC and their stewards, National Police Air Service and the law-abiding majority of fans.

"Thanks also to members of the public in the town centre for their patience as pockets of disorder were dealt with. Within an hour of the game ending, the area had quietened down and most Leeds fans had dispersed."

The most serious disturbance took place near Spensleys Emporium on Albert Road near the town centre around 3.30pm where dozens of police officers intervened as a mass brawl flared up and bottles were thrown.

Tensions had first risen at the end of the ground where more than 4,000 Leeds fans were streaming out, jubilant after a very late equaliser saw the match finish 1-1.

Their buoyant mood turned to goading from some, which sparked a backlash from Boro fans as a tight bottleneck of moving supporters formed.

Watching officers had to step in on several occasions as supporters exchanged verbal blows, which turned physical further towards town.

Teesside Live saw one man sporting a badly bloodied nose.

Between the Lord Byron pub and 'Hit the Bar' police armed with batons chased a gang of men from down an alley after a fight broke out.

Some supporters expressed their frustrations to police, questioning why the away contingent had been allowed to leave the ground at the same time as the home fans.

Around 40 officers remained in the town centre as the trouble began to gradually die down around 4.30pm.

Officers were also seen patrolling on Linthorpe Road after the match.
