Five people taken into police custody following Nice-Marseille crowd trouble - 01/09/2021

Source: https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/

Nice-Matin report today that five people have been taken into police custody following the events of the Nice-Marseille fixture that saw supporters flood onto the pitch to confront Marseille players, and the ensuing mass brawl. The five detainees are suspected of taking part in the pitch invasion.

The Nice magistrate has indicated that more arrests are to follow, with those who ran onto the pitch at risk of up to one year in prison.

The supporter who confronted and attempted to kick midfielder Dimitri Payet – whose retaliation after having a bottle thrown at his head sparked the crowd trouble – will appear in court on September 22, and is currently released under legal supervision.

Brazil : Fans attack Grêmio buses arriving at the CT and Rafinha fires: ‘I don’t agree and I don’t accept’ - 01/09/2021

Source: https://primetimezone.com/

Fans clashed with the Police

In the relegation zone of the Brazilian championship, O Guild has been going through some delicate moments these past few days. After Maicon’s sudden departure, the group of players was attacked this Wednesday, 1st, when arriving by bus at CT Presidente Luiz Carvalho, by a group of fans who threw stones and rockets at the vehicle. The group of fans also clashed with the police. Nobody got hurt, but the scare was big. In a statement, Grêmio repudiated the “acts of violence, riots and vandalism” promoted by the group. “The club recognizes as legitimate any kind of manifestation of its fans, as long as it takes place in a peaceful way, without transgressing the limits of respect and civility”, they wrote. The demonstration also confirmed that it will take appropriate measures on the matter.

Hours after the event, the side Rafinha granted a press conference and also repudiated the violent demonstration. “Fans have every right to charge, curse, boo. No problem. But from the moment they pass to the other side, with stones, throwing fireworks, it flees from legitimacy, it loses all reason,” he said. “It’s sad for all of us, no one wants to go through this. Sometimes the way to protest has a limit. When he moves to the side of aggression, which can hurt someone, cause damage, he breaks out of the pattern. It does not justify. It is not because you are not earning that you have the right to throw stones or fireworks inside the bus. I don’t agree and I don’t accept. Nobody accepts”, completed the player.

Grêmio is now 18th in the Brasileirão, with only 16 points won. In 17 matches, there are nine defeats, four draws and four wins. Only in 2021, the club fired two coaches: Renato Gaucho e James Nunes and tries with Felipão to come out of his worst moment in recent years.

Hungary - England - 02/09/2021

Source: https://metro.co.uk/

Hungary fans boo as England players take knee ahead of World Cup qualifier

There was already a hostile and intimidating atmosphere in the build-up to the Group I encounter as the anthems were sung and loud booing could be heard the moment Gareth Southgate’s men took the knee, just moments before kick-off in Budapest.

Talk of such scenes coming to fruition dominated pre-match discussion, with Hungary ordered to play their next three UEFA competition games behind closed doors due to racist abuse and homophobic banners at the stadium during Euro 2020.

However, a full-capacity 60,000 home crowd packed into the stands tonight as the qualifier is being played under FIFA jurisdiction.

Many have called for a blanket ban to be enforced for similar racist and homophobic offences in the future but Southgate took a diplomatic stance ahead of the the qualifier, saying England needed to ‘get it’s own house in order’ before criticising other nations.

It comes after Three Lions trio Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford were all targeted with sickening racist abuse online after their penalty misses in the Euro 2020 final.

Hungary head coach Marco Rossi said he would be ‘on the side’ of England should they be subjected to racist abuse during the qualifier and Sandor Csanyi – president of the FA – implored fans not to make any discriminatory chants in the matchday programme.

He said: ‘It’s important that the team’s unbeaten run so far in this FIFA qualifying campaign is not overshadowed by anything else and that the loud noises produced inside the arena is full of encouragement for our national team rather than containing any racist, discriminatory or homophobic chants, including discrimination against the Roma community.’

Scotland : Six arrested over anti-Irish singing in Glasgow as Rangers ban fans - 04/09/2021

Source : https://www.irishamerica.com/

SIX people have now been arrested in relation to the singing of an anti-Irish song by Rangers fans in Glasgow last weekend.

Footage shared online showed a crowd of supporters marching to the club’s home game with Celtic on Sunday, with some singing The Famine Song.

On Thursday, Police Scotland revealed they had arrested three men for racially aggravated offences.

Three more men were arrested yesterday for the singing of racist material.

Following the first set of arrests, Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland, Divisional Commander for Greater Glasgow Police Division, described last Sunday’s events as “disgraceful racial conduct”.

“We have made the first of what I expect to be numerous arrests following the disgraceful racial conduct shown by a minority of Rangers supporters who were making their way to Ibrox stadium on Sunday, August 29,” he said.

“Three men, aged 24, 21 and 19 years old, were arrested and charged last night, Wednesday, September 1, in connection with racially aggravated offences towards a member of the public and for the singing of racist material.

“This racist conduct will not be tolerated and our investigations are continuing.

“We will continue to work with Rangers FC to identify and take appropriate action against those responsible.”

Indefinite bans
Rangers revealed it had banned three fans indefinitely following the arrests, having earlier vowed to work with police to identify fans involved.

“After liaising with Police Scotland regarding a well-documented incident on Sunday, Rangers have written to three individuals to confirm their indefinite ban from all club fixtures,” a statement on their website read.

“We reiterate our Club stance against all forms of discrimination and once again, underline our approach to so-called ‘fans’ who bring the good name of Rangers FC into disrepute.”

Yesterday, Police Scotland revealed three further men, aged 26, 23 and 21, had been arrested, bringing the total number of arrests to six.

A statement from the force said the men had been charged “in connection with the singing of racist material in Glasgow on Sunday, August, 2021”.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The Famine Song includes the lyrics: “From Ireland they came, brought us nothing but trouble and shame, well the Famine is over, why don’t they go home?”

The Great Famine, which began in 1845, resulted in around 1,000,000 deaths with a similar number emigrating, of which around 100,000 went to Scotland.

FC Tver - Zenit ST Petersburg II - 04/09/2021

Source : https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/

Russian hooligans clash and 11 arrested in mass brawl as men lie injured and bloodied in street

SEVEN fans have reportedly been left injured and 11 arrested after Zenit Saint-Petersburg and Spartak Moscow ultras clashed on Saturday.

Shocking footage has emerged of the hooligans fighting in the Russian city of Tver as a mass brawl erupted.

Zenit's reserve side were in action away at FC Tver yesterday, with the two third-tier teams playing out a 2-2 draw.

And the visitors' fans were met by Spartak yobs, who decided to make the 101 mile trip from Moscow to Tver.

In the clip released by RT via RIA, supporters can be seen running before engaging with each other.

The video ended with men bloodied and laying on the floor as people flee from the scene.

One man can even be seen kicking another who was sprawled across the ground, before turning and punching another person.

It has been said that a total of 60 people were involved in the fracas.

And it has been reported that 11 of those fans were detained following the fight.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs are now looking to establish the identity of those involved.

And the police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine why the Spartak fans travelled to Tver despite their team not playing there.

According to the German news outlet the Express, of the 60 people that took part in the brawl, seven were left injured.

They have also stated that one individual has suffered spinal injuries as a result of the attack.

After a Ligue 1 brawl, Nice was fined one point and Marseille's physio was banned for a year - 08/09/2021

Source : https://ng.opera.news/

Due to the violent circumstances that marred Nice's match with Marseille in August, Ligue 1 fined them two points, one of which was suspended, and OM physio Pablo Fernandez will be suspended for the entire 2021-22 season for his role in the brawl.

When Nice fans invaded the pitch and physically battled with visiting Marseille players and personnel, the game between the two clubs was called off.

The hosts have been stung the hardest by the LFP's final disciplinary verdict, although numerous Marseille players have also been sanctioned, and the match will be replayed behind closed doors.

The pitch invasion and following fracas at the Allianz Riviera were ignited after Marseille player Dimitri Payet hurled a bottle back into the crowd, an action for which he was given a suspended one-match ban, along with teammate Alvaro Gonzalez, who was also accused of instigating the home fans.

England: Leeds United hooligans drag Derby County fan off train in vicious attack - 08/09/2021

Source:  https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/

They became incensed and kicked and stamped on the 19-year-old

Season 21/22 - September 6o6h
Ian Greener aged 47 (left) and Dean Wilson aged 37 (right), two Leeds United hooligans who attacked a teenage Derby County fan at Midland railway station on August 24, 2019

A groups of Leeds United fans dragged a teenage Derby County fan off a train and attacked him, a court has heard.

Derby Crown Court heard how the Leeds fans were travelling back from watching an away game at Stoke City when they met a set of Rams fans on platform three at Midland railway station.

The group became "incensed" when a 19-year-old Derby supporter chanted "where were you at Wembley" in reference to the play-off semi-finals Leeds had lost to them three months earlier, reports Derbyshire Live.

For more news and stories on Leeds crime, click here.

One of the Leeds fans got off the train and pulled the teen from it kicking and stamping on him while he lay curled up in a ball on the ground.

Three of them - Ian Greener, Dean Wilson and Kevin Widdop - two of whom have had football banning orders before, were sentenced after each pleading guilty to affray.

Judge Jonathan Bennett told the trio: "You may have been provoked by the other group but, unfortunately, you got involved in varying degrees in violence.

"It is a very serious incident in my view, it was fairly sustained and at least two people got injured.

"Football violence is often people like you, in employment, who for some reason appear to get a thrill or adrenaline rush from fighting other supporters."

Amrisha Parathalingam, prosecuting, said the incident took place on the evening of August 24, 2019.

On that day Leeds had beaten Stoke 3-0 in the Potteries and their supporters got off a train at Derby to change for one back to Yorkshire.

The same day the Rams drew 1-1 at Pride Park against West Bromwich Albion.

Miss Parathalingam said: "There was chanting between the two sets of supporters and the teenager started singing 'where were you at Wembley?' which angered the Leeds group.

"One of them got on the Derby train and punched one man before the teenager was dragged off the train.

"He later recalled being curled up on the floor being kicked and stamped on by the group.

"One member of the public was overheard saying 'look at what they are doing, he's only a kid' while a family with a young child were coming down the stairs to the platform and when they saw what was happening went back up the stairs.

"The young child there was described as being upset."

All three men were identified from CCTV, questioned and admitted their part on the violence.

Greener, 47, of Whitehall Street, Wakefield was jailed for 29 weeks, suspended for 18 months and was ordered to carry our 120 hours unpaid work.

He was also fined £300 and ordered to pay £420 costs.

Holly Clegg, mitigating, said her client works for Network Rail, lives with his girlfriend and has sons aged 17 and 22.

She said: "Alcohol was the catalyst for this and he says he is rarely interested in going to football matches now."

Judge Bennett said: "Despite Leeds getting promotion (to the Premier League)?"

Miss Clegg replied: "Those are his instructions."

Widdop, 56, of Pasture Drive, Castleford, was jailed for 33 weeks, suspended for 18 months and was handed a weekend curfew.

He was also fined £500 and ordered to pay £1,200 costs.

Penny Clancy, his barrister, said her client works at a Volvo warehouse in Normanton, near Wakefield, but is currently on sick leave with a shoulder problem.

She said: "He is extremely remorseful and regretful, lives with his wife of 31 years and his daughters aged 27 and 21."

And Wilson, 37, of Berryfield Garth, Osset, Wakefield, was jailed for 33 weeks, suspended for 18 months and was ordered to carry out 120 hours unpaid work.

He too was fined £500 and was ordered to pay £1,200 costs.

Ben Thomas, mitigating, said his client works as a self-employed electrician and has two daughters from a previous relationship.

He said: "He recognises he was stupid to get involved in this."

All three men were handed three-year football banning orders restricting where they can go and how far away from grounds where Leeds United and England are playing football matches on that day.
