Southport FC - Blackpool FC - 02/07/2022

Source : https://www.lancs.live/

The game was halted for around 10 minutes as rival fans clashed

Police have condemned the small minority of fans who caused trouble at the Southport vs Blackpool pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The game was halted for 10 minutes after trouble broke out in the stands with rival fans clashing. Home supporters had made their way to the away end gesturing at the travelling supporters who charged the fence in retaliation. Southport players then were involved in the altercation as Blackpool CEO Ben Mansford made his way over to stem the violence.

Stewards sought to stem the initial altercation before the fence in between the supporters was thrown. A message was sent over the tannoy for supporters to return to their seats with a cordon being implemented on the halfway line. The game restarted and there were no further incidents but Sefton Police released a statement on Sunday to say they were working with both clubs to investigate the disturbance.

Gateshead football hooligan jailed for violent disorder against Black Lives Matter supporters - 11/07/2022

Source : https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/

Michael Maylia, of Gateshead, and Stephen Jenkins, of Sunderland, have become the latest to be jailed over the clash in Newcastle city centre

Season 22/2 - July Zrmd

A football hooligan who took part in a violent city centre protest against Black Lives Matter supporters has been jailed.

Grandfather Michael Maylia, who was one of a number of Newcastle United fans jailed after a bar brawl in Burnley in 2019, was among those to get involved in criminal activity at Grey's Monument, in Newcastle. In ugly scenes, police came under attack from a number of people and officers, horses and dogs were injured as missiles were thrown, including bottles, cans and smoke grenades.

Several yobs have already been locked up for their part in the shameful violent disorder - all but one of whom were from the "counter-protesting" group. Some of them were affiliated with the far right, Hells Angels, or football hooligans, with one also involved in the Burnley violence alongside Maylia.

Newcastle Crown Court heard Maylia was initially well-behaved but from around 2pm on June 13 2020, the atmosphere changed. Jolyon Perks, prosecuting, said Maylia appeared to be looking for an opportunity to throw a can of alcohol, on CCTV footage.

He said: "He hurled the can in the direction of the Black Lives Matter protesters and a police officer jumped out of the way of it. As the can left his hand he pulled his hood over his head to try to conceal his appearance.

"He later left the scene and beckoned the group to go with him and he appears to be acting as a leader. He moved through a number of shoppers to an area where some Black Lives Matter supporters, who were also behaving unlawfully, were located to confront them."

When stopped by police and told to move back, the group responded with physical and verbal resistance. Mr Perks added: "The defendant can be seen at the front refusing to leave, surging towards the police and acting in a threatening manner.."

When the police dog section moved in, Maylia remained at the front of the group, shouting and swearing at officers. He also refused to leave when the mounted section moved in and surged forward to try to disrupt police tactics.

Maylia, who was unsteady on his feet, was also seen recording the disorder on his phone and then posed for a picture before leaving, the court heard.

He had 56 previous convictions, including assaults and public order and the violent disorder at Burnley, for which he was jailed for 19 months. Maylia, 55, of Coniston, Gateshead, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was jailed for 25 months for the Newcastle matter.

Jenkins was seen drinking alcohol and gesturing aggressively. At one point police pushed a man, who fell on Jenkins, causing him to stagger back. He regained his composure then threw a can of alcohol at police, which hit an officer and caused fluid to spill out on him.

At a later stage he was pushed to the ground by police and ignored attempts to calm him down and resisted efforts to clear the area. He was said to appear highly intoxicated as he argued and remonstrated with officers.

Jenkins, 64, of Redmond Square, Redhouse, Sunderland, also admitted violent disorder and was jailed for 26 months.

Judge Edward Bindloss told the pair: "This is normally a public area of the city centre where families and children should be able to attend in confidence and safety.

"An element of a deterrent sentence is required given the scale and this disorder in a major city in the UK.

Lee Fish, for Maylia, said he did not set out to use violence that day and did not personally injure anyone. He added that alcohol was behind his criminal behaviour and that he had been providing care to family members.

Shada Mellor, for Jenkins, said it was "highly unlikely" he would have got involved had he not been drunk. She added that he is embarrassed, remorseful, regretful and ashamed. Miss Mellor said fork lift truck driver Jenkins had lost his job at the time due to the pandemic and was drinking to excess and isolated but he is now back working.

Wigan and Plymouth football hooligans banned from grounds - 05/07/2022

Source : https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/

Two fans who caused trouble at a Home Park match have found themselves banned from attending their favourite teams for the next three years.

Two football fans have been handed orders which ban them from attending their teams' games as well as any England games. The duo admitted the offence of threatening unlawful violence following a clash between fans at Home Park in November.

Plymouth's police led the inquiry following an incident at the Plymouth Argyle vs Wigan Athletic match at Home Park in November last year, in which the Latics won 2-1 with a stoppage time winner. During the game police said that a "large disorder involving more than 30 men took place between fans from both teams, both inside and outside the ground, which included objects such as bottles and coins being thrown."

Police released images of 15 men - all Wigan Athletic fans - that they wanted to trace in relation to the disorder. In addition, officers had a number of men, said to be Argyle fans, that they aimed to identify.

As a result of the police's inquiries, 26-year-old Daniel Winstanley-McCoy, from Preston Road, Wigan in Lancashire attended Plymouth Magistrates' Court where he was made subject of a community order following his involvement in the large disorder on November 27

Winstanley-McCoy pleaded guilty to threatening unlawful violence towards others during the match. McCoy was ordered to carry out 40 hours unpaid work, pay the victim surcharge of £95 and pay court costs of £85.

He was also slapped with a Football Banning Order (FBO which was to last three years. As part of the order he had to report to Wigan police station and will not be allowed to enter Wigan town centre or the area around Wigan Athletic's ground on Saturdays and Sundays, up to four hours prior to kick off and six hours after the match finishes, and between 4pm and midnight during a weekday fixture.

McCoy is also banned from attending or travelling to any town or city in the UK on a day Wigan Athletic is playing, as well as banned from attending or travelling to any town or city in the UK on a day that the England football team are playing at that location.

Plymouth Argyle fan, Jack Rice of Keswick Crescent, Estover also faced magistrates over his behaviour on that same day. The 23-year-old also pleaded guilty to the offence of threatening unlawful violence on November 27, 2021 during the match.

He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work, complete up to 10 days of a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. In addition he was ordered to pay the victim surcharge of £95 and pay court costs of £85.

Magistrates also made Rice the subject of a Football Banning Order - but in his case it will last five years. He has been told he is "not to travel to or enter any town or city boundaries in which Plymouth Argyle are playing an away regulated football match between the time six hours before published kick off and six hours after the final whistle."

He is also "not to enter Central Park, Plymouth on any day when Plymouth Argyle Football Club are playing home regulated football match six hours before the published kick off and six hours after the final whistle.

He is "not to travel to or enter any city boundaries in England or Wales in which the England National team are playing a regulated International football match between the time 24 hours before the published kick off and 12 hours after the whistle.

"On any day when the England Senior Men's National Team are playing a fixture within England, Wales or Scotland the defendant must not enter the Town, City or Parish boundary wherein that fixture is being played, during the period eight hours before until eight hours after the scheduled kick off time."

Breach of a Football Banning Order is a criminal offence punishable by up to six months in prison.

Albert riera gets managerial job; forced out of press conference by ultras - 06/07/2022

Source : https://www.sporf.com/

A group of ultras forced former Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera out of his first managerial press conference this week.

The left-sided midfielder – who occasionally played at left-back – featured 56 times for the Reds. His spell at the club is widely regarded as an unsuccessful one, as he scored just five goals.

The Spaniard returned to English football in 2014 for a brief spell with Championship side Watford. In his only season, Riera played eight times before receiving a two-match ban to end his season. He was sent off for a bad challenge on Charlton’s Diego Poyet, and had to be dragged away by team-mates. Riera subsequently joined Italian side Udinese.

He also has 16 caps for Spain. However, after that move to Italy, the midfielder wasn’t really heard of again amongst English football fans.

That is, until now.

Argentina: Club Lujan - Club Leandro Alem - 12/07/2022

Source : The Mirror

Teenager fighting for life with 15 more injured after shooting in Argentina match
An 18-year-old man has been left seriously injured following a shooting at a fourth-tier football match between Buenos Aires rivals Club Lujan and Club Alem in Argentina

A teenager is fighting for his life and 15 others have suffered injuries following a horrific shooting at a football match in Argentina.

The incident happened during the Buenos Aires Derby between Club Lujan and Club Alem. The fourth tier clash was suspended after just 15 minutes when the chaotic scenes unfolded at the Campo Municipal de Deportes, Lujan's home ground.

An 18-year-old man has been left serious injured. Fighting broke out inside and outside the stadium with bullets being dispatched. A video of a boy clutching his stomach while covered in blood and receiving medical care from a paramedic has emerged on social media.

As reported by Argentinian outlet Infobae, shots were initially heard outside the stadium in the 12th minute. A gang arrived outside the ground in two cars and shot towards home fans leaving many inside the bemused.

Police initially started firing rubber bullets at Lujan fans before being informed of the true events. Officers later used tear gas as several shocking videos of supporters either fighting or running away from the violence have been shared on social media.

It's claimed a 'sound bomb' - an acoustic weapon used to control crowds - landed near the visitors' dug out. A total of 16 people have reportedly suffered injuries in what has been described as "another sad day for Argentine soccer" by the local press.

"Unfortunately the classic was suspended due to incidents," read a statement on Alem's Facebook page. "What should be a football party is overshadowed by a group of violent people."

As quoted by Argentinian outlet Ole, Alem coach Horacio Fabregat said: "We are inside the locker room, we have no way to get out because we don't have a microphone and we are waiting [to find out] how we are going to go home.

"The leaders [of the club] are with us and the people of Lujan are seeing how we can [leave]. I was the first to see that something was happening, I called the fourth referee and asked him to stop the game.

Riots with America fans leave one injured at Envigado Stadium

A brawl between fans took place at the end of the football match between Envigado Fútbol Club and América de Cali at the Polideportivo Sur de Envigado. The situation required the presence of Esmad agents around the stadium, who had to disperse the people involved in the overflows.

As confirmed by Envigado authorities, the fight took place near Avenue 43A. The situation left one person apparently injured by a stab wound to one of his upper limbs.

The injured had to be transferred by a police patrol to a nearby health center. The injury, according to the initial report, was not serious.

Bulgaria: 45 Montenegrin Football Fans Detained after they Robbed a Gas Station - 06/07/2022

Source : https://www.novinite.com/

45 football fans of the Montenegrin team "Sutjeska" were detained after they stole BGN 900 (EUR 460) worth of food and drinks last night from a gas station near the village of Dobri Dyal in Lyaskov. The bus was stopped by the police early in the morning near Sevlievo and escorted to the regional police station in Gorna Oryahovitsa, where passengers are detained for up to 24 hours.

On the way after the football match with "Ludogorets" in Razgrad, the fans of the Montenegrin football team literally invaded the gas station on the main Sofia-Varna road near the village of Dobri Dyal and began to steal food and alcohol. While the officials were reacting, the bus drove off, and the gas station alerted the police.

The bus was intercepted near Sevlievo and escorted to the regional police station in Gorna Oryahovitsa, where 45 of the passengers were detained, and the three drivers were waiting outside.

The drivers were not detained because they did not get off the bus at the gas station, but they admitted that after the match the fans consumed a serious amount of alcohol.

After the arrest, the football fans reimbursed the damage of BGN 900 to the gas station, from where they refused to comment on the case. The interrogations are ongoing. An administrative penalty is expected to be imposed on the detainees.
